What compatibility actually means
A card can share the same dimensions as the existing room key and still require a different internal configuration. Compatibility includes the RFID setup, the way credentials are encoded, the physical card format and the behaviour expected at each reader.
For that reason, visual inspection alone is not enough. PPH BioBoard compatibility is confirmed from property information and then checked with a physical sample before a production order is approved.
Information to collect from the property
- A current working room key card
- Any available credential or encoder specification
- The access points the card must operate
- Whether cards are encoded at reception or supplied preconfigured
- Any thickness or feed requirements from card-handling equipment
- The expected quantity and production schedule
Test the whole guest journey
Reception
Confirm that the sample can be handled and encoded through the property’s normal check-in process.
Guest room
Test repeated presentation at representative room doors and confirm consistent response.
Shared access
Check lifts, guest-area doors, parking or amenities wherever the same credential is expected to operate.
Room controls
Where the card is used in an energy-saving slot, verify physical fit and the expected activation behaviour.
Keep approval documented
The approved sample and its written specification should remain the reference for production. If the hotel later changes its access equipment, encoding software or credential setup, compatibility should be reviewed again rather than assumed.
